I’m fascinated by how we create artifacts and stories, how we think and feel, our varying cultures through space and time, and how the universe works. I switched tracks from IT to design because I love to make beautiful spaces and things as much as to solve problems. I'm happier making long-term progress than when treading water. I’m also good with the nitty-gritty details, thinking ahead, and coaxing recalcitrant technology, which is most of it.
Often quiet in a crowd, I have a sharp sense of humour and am talkative and eloquent when I relax into a conversation or relationship. I look at things from many angles, cultivate kindness, and try to understand why we do what we do.
I read voraciously, and would wilt without stories to envision, knowledge and skills to absorb, creative tasks to do, and a place to write my thoughts in my own voice. I need to always be learning and growing.
I grew up in a house that barely anyone knew was there, surrounded by a beautiful wild garden with a hidden forest and secret passages, and next door to a library, whose site had been cunningly engineered so that we never, ever ran out of fresh books.
